Referral Network

Welcome to the QLaw Foundation of Washington Referral Network!

Deciding to retain legal representation is an important decision. Finding an attorney can be overwhelming. As part of our mission to promote the dignity and respect of LGBTQ2S+ Washingtonians within the legal system, we have implemented a statewide attorney referral network.

The attorneys in this network are not directly affiliated with QLaw Foundation, but are:

  • committed to being LGBTQ2S+ affirming
  • experienced with serving the members of our LGBTQ2S+ communities
  • licensed to practice law in the state of Washington

While we have conducted an initial assessment of the attorneys in our network, ultimately the decision to retain counsel should be based on your own judgment and evaluation.

Cost

Depending on circumstances, some attorneys on our list offer legal services at no cost or a reduced fee, sometimes known as pro bono or low bono, respectively. Terms, such as scope of representation and fees, are determined by the referred attorney and client.

Intake

Our referral process includes an intake form. Completing this form allows us to gather information about you and your legal needs. After we receive your intake form, our staff will review your needs and, in most cases, respond to you within 48 hours.

Scheduling a consultation with an attorney can sometimes take a few days. This should be considered if you are in a legal crisis or have a fast-approaching deadline.

Finding a match

QLaw Foundation cannot guarantee a perfect match, nor can we ensure the referred attorney will represent you. In some regions, it is difficult to locate attorneys that are competent with LGBTQIA2S+ clients and their matters. If we cannot find a suitable referral or if an attorney cannot take your case, we may be able to refer you to another attorney or offer alternative resources.
