Sher Kung Summer Fellowship
We are seeking a rising 2L or 3L law student to support the legal needs of LGBTQ2S+ Washingtonians through legal research, legal clinic support, community legal education, and coalition work. Our Summer Fellowship supports law students with a desire to work toward social justice and civil rights in Washington in a community-oriented, compassion-driven way. The LGBTQ2S+ Legal Clinic provides free legal services specifically designed to address the needs of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender individuals and couples. Volunteer opportunities are available for volunteer attorneys and translators.
LGBTQ2S+ Legal Clinic
1st and 3rd Thursday of each month, 7:00–8:30 PM
The LGBTQ+ Legal Clinic is currently being held by phone, and volunteers are welcome to join from anywhere in the state.
Volunteers are asked to volunteer once every 6-8 weeks for at least one year. Fill out the volunteer interest form below.
- Volunteer Attorneys (particularly located in Central and Eastern Washington)
- Translators (must be fully fluent in both English and second language)
Typically, volunteers must attend a training or watch a series of short videos and shadow at least one clinic shift. This process is currently under revision. We appreciate your patience.

We accept law student externships (internships in exchange for school credit) in all semesters, including summer. We welcome law students from all communities who have a demonstrated interest in community-centered lawyering and/or LGBTQ+ family law.
